For the kitchen the preferences are:
"Must-Haves"
- White cabinets and overall color
- Good triangle
- Lot of natural light
- Big island or maybe 2 islands
- Clean, modern look and lines
- Either walk-in pantry or pullout racks
- Primarily drawers and pullout racks (minimize doors and shelf, can be used to hide stuff)
- Lots of counter workspace for baking and prepping meals
- Sink in island with a high faucet for tall pots
- Additional oven for wall. The size of the left oven in the thermador is not that useful. Need two full ovens.
- seating at the island
- Additional storage on the seat side of the island. Storage for items not used very often.
- space for cookbooks. I have close to 40 cookbooks.
"Nice-to-Haves" and Ideas
- Dining table integrated with the island
- Most likely we will get a built-in style refridegerator
- Range in the island if there is enough counter space
- Combination of cabinets and built-ins
- Use the vertical space and put display-type cabinets high with a ladder to reach those
- Counter tops: soapstone, ...
- two dishwashers
Kitchen
W - I cannot pinpoint what I like about this kitchen, but I like it.
M - stainless backsplash. Like faucet over range. Like hardware and glass cabinets.
W - I like the high cabinets with the glass and ladder.
M- Would like a couple glass cabinets, but not all for main storage. Glass would be nice to display pieces we currently have on top of cabinets.
M - Like the thickness of the island countertop, shelf over range, stainless backsplash, and chandelier
M - drawers for pots and pans
Island
W - Nice way of hiding outlets in the island.
W - I like the clean design and push doors (without handles) for storage.
M - don't like butcher block.
Dining Table
M-I don't like the high to low seating.
W - Nice way of incorporating the structural beams into a table.
M - a little too rustic
W - Very cool dining table that is integrated with the island.
M - too long
